Semester System and Examination Guidelines

1) Semester System
The University shall adopt a semester system, continuous evaluation, and a choice-based credit system for its courses.

  • The three-year undergraduate courses shall be divided into six semesters.
  • The two-year postgraduate courses shall be divided into four semesters.
  • One-year postgraduate diploma courses shall be divided into two semesters.

2) Board of Sports Studies Responsibilities

  • Scheme of Study for a course.
  • Course Curriculum for each subject.
  • Review of the Course Curriculum before the start of each academic session, if required.
  • Number of subjects to be taught in each undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate diploma course.
  • Weightage distribution for theoretical and practical study.
  • Introduction of optional subjects in each course along with core subjects.

3) Review and Approval

  • The School Board may review and revise the Scheme of Study formulated by the Board of Sports Studies and recommend it to the Academic Council for approval.
  • Changes suggested by the Board shall be approved by the School Board.

4) Teaching Methodology

  • Each subject shall be taught in two parts: Theory and Practical Training.
  • The subdivision of marks for theory and practical components of each subject will be decided by the Board of Sports Studies and approved by the concerned School Board.

5) Pattern of Question Papers

  • The pattern of question papers for the Mid-Term and End-Term Examinations shall be laid down by the Board of Sports Studies of each department.
  • Modalities for the Mid-Term and End-Term Practical Examinations shall be decided by the subject teacher with approval from the Head of the Department.
  • Continuous evaluation shall be conducted through theory or practical assignments given by the subject teacher.

6) Pass Percentage and Grace Marks

  • A student must pass both the theory and practical examinations separately with at least 40% marks in each subject.
  • Up to 1% of the total marks for all subjects, including the practical part, may be given as grace marks to a candidate who is failing in any subject of that semester.
  • Grace marks can be split across multiple subjects. They may also be applied to re-appear papers.

7) Re-Appear Examination

  • The re-appear examination for the 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters will be held in December along with the End-Term Examination.
  • The re-appear examination for the 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters will be held in May along with the regular examination.
